COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY HOSTS BARUCH WRESTLING CLUB

date: 2005-11-29
by: Al Bevilacqua

Columbia University has part of its Community Outreach Program invited the Baruch Wrestling Club to participate in a wrestling clinic provided by Head Coach Brendan Buckley and his staff. The Baruch team is in their second year and are coached by Chris Poli and Mark Harmon..

Last year the Baruch team was the initial model school for the USA Wrestling/MWA Beat the Streets Program with 28 wrestlers. Since the initial Baruch program, 19 other middle schools throughout the 5 Boroughs of New York City will be participating in the activity. Ten programs will begin Dec. 1 with 10 additional ones in the Spring.

The MWA Beat the Streets is continuing its goal of introducing wrestling as an activity for young boys and girls in all 275 middle schools as well as the private and parochial schools.
