The Tournament Committee will invite the top 4 high school wrestlers in each weight class from the PSAL, CHSAA and Independent Schools Association. Last year the tournament was very successful and the quality of the wrestling is improving every year!
Under the leadership of PSAL Chairman Larry Cantor, CHSAA New York City Chairman Bob McLaughlin, Jim Regan coach at Martin Luther HS, the New York City Sports Commissioner, and the Mayor's office are all working together to make the tournament a major event for schoolboy wrestling.
The tournament begins at 9:00AM with the Finals scheduled for 4:00PM.
The Champions will once again be honored at the Annual MWA Dinner at the end of the season.
The MWA mission is developing wrestling in New York City from the "Youth through the Olympics". The USAW/MWA Beat the Streets Program is developing a "feeder system" for the high schools through the Beat the Streets Program. There are 20 middle school programs actively involved teaching over 400 middle schools boys and girls the basic skills of wrestling.
